Writing Without Limits: Tools and Strategies for Learners Who Haven't Spelled or Scribbled, Yet!
This session offers practical, strengths-based writing supports for emergent writers who use AAC and have language and motor challenges. Participants will explore tools and strategies that are meaningful, developmentally appropriate and that honor all forms of expression, whether spoken, typed, selected, or scribbled. Participants will be able to: 1. Identify key challenges and strengths in writing development for students who use AAC or alternative access methods. 2. Demonstrate the use of practical tools and strategies that support emergent writing behaviors in learners with complex communication and motor needs. 3. Design inclusive writing opportunities that empower all students to express themselves confidently, regardless of their spelling or handwriting abilities.
