Using the AWAC AI Statement to Improve Critical AI Literacy
The Association for Writing Across the Curriculum’s "Statement on AI and Writing Across the Curriculum" (2025) turns broad concerns about AI into course-ready practices. In this virtual interactive session, participants will map the Statement’s Guiding Principles to their disciplines; adapt transparent policy language; and draft a student reflection/disclosure prompt that supports fair assessment. Using Mentimeter and Microsoft Whiteboard, we’ll surface cross-disciplinary needs and build an implementation plan aligned to program outcomes. Attendees leave with editable templates, examples of critical AI literacy in action (e.g., UC Davis’s PAIRR model), and concrete next steps for policy, activities, and assessment.
