Designing an Inquiry Architecture with Immersive Tech and AI
What kind of infrastructure supports students as designers—not just users—of emerging technology? In this case study, a middle school educator and IT director share their approach to building an inquiry-driven learning ecosystem powered by AI, immersive tools, and intentional instructional design. Students partnered with customized AI chatbots and immersive platforms (Minecraft and ClassVR) to support research, prototyping, and thoughtful iteration rooted in human-centered design. Through design thinking and metacognitive routines, students moved from consuming content to creating solutions. The presenters will highlight the planning frameworks, instructional scaffolds, and technical systems that enabled students to explore big ideas and build with purpose. Attendees will see examples of student work and walk away with adaptable tools and strategies to bring AI, immersive technology, and inquiry learning together. Discover how to create learning environments that foster engagement, critical thinking, and empathy—preparing students for a future where they shape technology, not just consume it.
