Reducing Harm in Schools under New SOGI Policy Frameworks

This talk is intended for educators and administrators seeking to act in solidarity with queer and trans youth in the face of new provincial SOGI policy that explicitly increases the management and suppression of queer and trans topics in schools. We will offer actionable approaches to navigating new legislation to advocate for queer and trans students. Educators will be encouraged to reflect on how they self-police their actions and language in fear of discipline, often overcomplying to the wording of policy. We will share practical strategies for solidarity that aim to reduce harm in schools and ensure that TQS 4 is maintained in every classroom under this new policy framework.
