Equitable Climate Justice in the Classroom
As educators, it's essential to examine how equitable, inclusive, and diverse our teaching practices truly are. But how can we ensure that a strong curricular focus goes hand-in-hand with a social justice lens? Join ACEE staff to explore climate justice and discover how to meaningfully incorporate multiple perspectives when teaching about climate and the environment. Questions covered include: What is intersectionality? What is the role of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in understanding climate impacts, resilience, and solutions? Why are two-eyed seeing and social justice vital climate solutions? Session Objectives: 1. Understand that climate change is a human rights issue, not just a global and scientific one. 2. Understand how positionality impacts how we view and understand global issues 3. Gain tools on how to approach topics with students from a justice perspective
