From Resilience to Renewal: Hope as the Heart of Education

Friday 6 March 2026·5:30 pm

In a time when many educators are feeling depleted and uncertain about the path ahead, this keynote invites teachers to rediscover the sustaining power of hope. In recent years, we have talked a great deal about resilience, our capacity to adapt under pressure, but resilience alone is not what keeps us moving forward. Resilience is the response; hope is the engine. Hope fuels renewal by restoring our sense of agency, direction, and possibility. Grounded in psychological research and lived experience in education, this keynote reframes hope as a disciplined, teachable practice that involves identifying meaningful goals, finding pathways forward, and maintaining agency even in uncertainty. Participants will explore how hope is both learnable and teachable, and how cultivating it fuels motivation, creativity, and perseverance in the classroom and beyond. Teachers, by the very nature of their work, are already practitioners of hope. They help students set goals, believe in their capacity to grow, and discover multiple pathways to learning. By intentionally teaching and modeling hope, educators build the foundation for authentic resilience in themselves and their students, while replenishing the deeper reserves that sustain their own sense of purpose. Ultimately, From Resilience to Renewal reminds educators that hope is not naïve optimism. Hope is the practice of purpose, agency, and renewal at the very heart of education.
