Introduction to ASL and Deaf Culture (Double Session)

We will examine the basics of American Sign Language: what sign language is and how it works, as well as what Deaf Culture is and its importance in learning ASL. We will start learning some fingerspelling, alphabet and basic greetings. This session is only a brief introduction to ASL and is suitable for beginners, looking to learn some ASL and find a few ways to use it in a classroom. I will share additional resources and classroom strategies for implementation.Session Objectives:1. Learn alphabet and a few basic signs in ASL2. Build an understanding of Deaf Culture3. Develop ways to incorporate ASL into classroom.
