KNOW YOUR VALUES - PLACE VALUE GAMES FOR UPPER ELEMENTARY

Mastering place value concepts lays a solid foundation for success in all areas of the math curriculum. Come prepared to learn strategies and play highly engaging games that help students learn and understand place value while the gain mastery of the key concepts and skills. Concepts covered include: whole numbers and decimals, composing/decomposing numbers, comparing and ordering numbers, identifying specific values, rounding, expanding numbers. Games can be used whole class or small group and are easy to differentiate. Games incorporate the use of cards, dice, place value dice and number lines. Game Boards provided, come prepared to play! Session Objectives: 1. Participants will learn strategies for teaching place value - whole numbers to the millions an decimals. 2. Participants will learn how to easily differentiate the games to meet the needs of all learners in the classroom. 3. Participants will see student work samples and use these for assessment.
