From Storytime to Strategy: Evidence-Based Comprehension Practices

Decoding is often the primary focus in early reading instruction. However, comprehension must be developed simultaneously to ensure students become proficient readers. This session helps educators integrate 12 research-based read-aloud practices to strengthen students’ comprehension skills (monitoring, inference-making, and retelling) so that they can access and understand rich, complex texts.
