The Power of We: Engaging Students Through Collaboration

Scientific research on literacy teaching and learning is quite clear that motivation and engagement are moderating variables in literacy outcomes. That is, as motivation and engagement increase, literacy outcomes improve. In this session, we will discuss various ways to foster literacy engagement and motivation through collaboration in K-3 classrooms that have been proven to improve early literacy outcomes. We will do a “deep dive” on one strategy, idea circles.
