Digital Memes as Critical Visual Pedagogy

This research presentation explores digital memes as tools of critical pedagogy that democratize knowledge production in visual culture education. Findings from a semester-long study show how student meme creation embodies critical thinking and collaborative learning and offer practical frameworks for recognizing vernacular digital literacies as legitimate educational content.
