(TICKET REQUIRED) "Poetivity"—A Flexible, Empowering Workshop That Combines Poetry With Image Making

Friday 6 March 2026·9:00 pm

Welcome to "Poetivity," where we create images from poetry—then listen, support, and connect. Regardless of age, this workshop provides a dedicated space for focused creativity. It can accommodate quiet or energetic classrooms. It can address themes or topics. It uses inexpensive, analogue tools that we recognize from grade school. In a teaching-by-doing approach, I will share the process that I have honed over years with students, adults, and very young children, both in real life and online. The process is deceptively simple: we start with a gentle form of mindfulness and listening, followed by a period of image-making, ending with some time for voluntary sharing. The format is familiar yet fresh—it is easy to remember. This workshop carves out time for students to reflect upon their inner selves. It is a digital-free oasis that provides a restorative reset during a busy day. Or it is a contagiously inspirational session where students focus in their own ways. Over many years, I have learned that this workshop works: it’s truly fun for everyone! NOTE: Participants will receive an original, published book (with illustrated examples) from a one-day workshop that I conducted with students at an international school in Trondheim, Norway. THIS IS A TICKETED SESSION. Please visit the FAQ page for detailed instructions on purchasing tickets to add to your NAEA26 registration or view this video tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PI9KC8-Jzj8&feature=youtu.be).
