Using GenAI tools to develop POG durable skills
Attendees will leave this session with a clear understanding of how generative AI (GenAI) tools can be intentionally integrated to develop durable skills such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and adaptability‚ skills emphasized in frameworks like the Portrait of a Graduate. They will explore specific, age-appropriate GenAI tools (e.g., chatbots, AI image generators, collaborative AI writing platforms) and see how these can be aligned to lesson objectives across content areas.Implementation strategies will include:Sample lesson ideas and activities using GenAI to enhance student voice and choicePrompts and scaffolds to guide student use of AI in responsible and ethical waysMethods for assessing durable skills development alongside academic standardsTips for fostering teacher and student AI literacyBy the end of the session, educators will have a toolkit of classroom-ready strategies and resources they can adapt immediately to foster future-ready learners.
