Want to support your students' technological learning and communication skills? This hands-on session will introduce you to the foundational tools and concepts behind effective digital communication—no design degree required! We'll explore essential elements like layers, tools, shapes, text, and platform capabilities, using accessible programs like Photoshop, Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Google Drawings. Whether you have full access to Adobe or are working with the most straightforward of tools, you'll learn how to guide students in creating visually compelling work, understand how digital media is built, and apply these skills across subjects. Get ready to build confidence in your own design process while helping students communicate their ideas and learning more powerfully in a digital world. Please bring a laptop to work on, ideally with a mouse for easier use. If you are able to download the program(s) you have access to and can use in advance, that will speed up your process and possible internet slowness will then have less impact for you. Any of the programs listed above can be used; these programs are listed in order of most complex/ greatest capabilities (ex. Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator) to most simple/ least capabilities (Google Draw or Slides). We will work from what you bring or prefer and focus on the tools that appear across platforms.
