Know Your Values - Place Value Games for Upper Elementary

Mastering Place Value concepts lays a solid foundation for success in all areas of the math curriculum. Come prepared to learn strategies and play highly engaging games that help students learn and understand place value while they gain mastery of place value concepts and skills. The session will focus on Whole Number as well as Decimal Place Value concepts including composing and decomposing numbers, comparing and ordering numbers, identifying specific place value of digits in multi-digit numbers, expanded form, rounding and much more. Cards, dice, number lines, place value dice and even Red-Solo Cups will be used as game components during the workshop. Easy differentiation strategies will be shared throughout the workshop and a handout with gameboards and other useful resources will be shared.
