Curating the PD Experience: A Museum Model for Edtech Learning

Too often, professional development is offered as a one-size-fits-all workshop that leaves educators feeling disconnected, uninspired, or frustrated. This session reframes edtech PD through the metaphor of a museum, where teachers thrive not in a single-room exhibit but in a curated gallery of choices.Participants will explore how one district redesigned edtech PD using flexible dashboards of self-paced modules and monthly drop-in sessions that empower educators to decide what, when, and how they learn. Attendees will experience interactive “museum tours” to compare mandated PD with curated, choice-driven learning, and they will reflect on how this approach aligns with adult learning theory and the principles of relevance, flexibility, and voice.By the end of the session, participants will leave with strategies for creating professional learning environments that promote teacher autonomy, encourage ongoing engagement with technology, and align with school or district goals.
