A Practical Approach to Class Management: Illustrating Best Practices in Physical Education
Class management is often cited as one of the most intimidating aspects to teaching identified by soon-to-be and newly minted teachers. Indeed, physical educators are faced with numerous factors that make increase the need for effective management, including but not limited to large class sizes, limited equipment and facility space, student behavioral issues, and limited class time. Geared toward individuals who are about to enter or have recently entered the teaching workforce, this session will thoroughly review and illustrate SHAPE America’s best practices as they relate to class management. Specifically, real-world scenarios and hypothetical extensions will be discussed as a means for determining optimal preventative measures and responses. Unlike a lecture setting, attendees will be engaged and encouraged to contribute to meaningful discussion.
