Healthy Schools Oklahoma: A Targeted Approach to Better Health Outcomes
This session will provide an in-depth look at Healthy Schools Oklahoma’s (HSOK) evidence-based program, which supports elementary schools in improving student health through a comprehensive, coordinated model. HSOK focuses on five key areas: physical activity, nutrition, tobacco use prevention, injury prevention, and oral health education. Attendees will learn how HSOK partners with schools to implement site-specific health initiatives. The session will highlight HSOK’s innovative, tiered implementation strategy and how community partnerships enhance program success. With services currently reaching 74 elementary schools and approximately 38,000 individuals statewide, HSOK has demonstrated measurable health outcomes. The presentation will also explore best practices, challenges and sustainability efforts, offering a replicable model for improving school and community health.
