More Than a Game: Purposeful Teaching With Tactical Games Model

The Tactical Games model (TGM) is a games-based teaching approach for physical education. Within this instructional model for physical education the focus is on placing students in game situations where tactics, decision-making and problem solving are critical, and skill development and execution is meaningful to the context of the game (Lund & Tannehill, 2015). This session highlights key insights from a veteran physical educator who implemented a TGM unit into her curriculum for a Ph.D. course project. Through compelling personal experiences, scholars will share practical strategies for TGM implementation, offering ideas for your own practices.
