Sacred and Safe Spaces: Teaching Sexual Health in Spiritually Diverse Classrooms

Thursday 19 March 2026·10:45 am

In today’s diverse and often divided society, delivering sexual health education that meets local mandates and community needs while respecting the spiritual and religious values of students and families can be complex. All students deserve equitable access to sexual health education that enhances their sexual health literacy and helps them acquire health skills aligned with SHAPE America National Health Education Standards, focusing on safety, health, and happiness.

This session provides educators with practical tools and language for designing and delivering developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and values-driven sexual health education curriculum. Participants will explore strategies for fostering open communication, building trust with families, navigating local restrictions, and ensuring that all students feel seen, safe, and supported.
