Simulations in Physical Education Sparks Connections to the Real World

Tuesday 17 March 2026·2:30 pm

Simulations for Physical Education, really? Yes! Add this innovative learning strategy to your teaching toolbox. Learning to use simulations in the physical education classroom is designed to help your students understand how to utilize their imagination ('third eye') to envision what it would be like to participate in a physical activity as an adult. In other words, you are instructing students on how to connect what they are learning in physical education to the real world. The session will include instruction on the pedagogy of simulation-based learning, how to incorporate simulations into your physical education units, and the rationale behind creating simulations for your students to learn. Connect students to what it would be like as an adult to join a sport, attend a yoga class, or sign up for a 5k run by using simulations. Encourage your students to adopt lifelong exercise habits by incorporating simulations into your classroom.
