Slide, Shuffle, Step: Southern Soul and Zydeco in PE

This interactive session blends movement, culture, and pedagogy through Southern Soul and Zydeco line dances. Participants will learn 3–4 beginner-friendly dances that build cardiovascular fitness, rhythm, and cultural awareness. Rooted in the rich Black Southern tradition, these dances offer meaningful opportunities to connect students to movement through culturally responsive teaching. Educators will receive detailed choreography breakdowns, classroom management strategies for dance, and tips to scaffold for all skill levels.
