The Power of E: Building Environments That Keep Teachers Thriving

Saturday 21 March 2026·9:15 am

What is the most important letter of the alphabet for teachers? While “A” might symbolize academic excellence, “B” brilliance, and “C” care, the letter that truly shapes an educator’s decision to stay or leave is “E.” Teaching is layered and complex, and the “E” stands for the environment -- the core factor influencing retention. Within this environment are four key “E” ingredients: enjoyment, encouragement, empowerment, and equilibrium. These elements work together to sustain teachers’ passion, resilience, and commitment to the profession. This session explores how each ingredient contributes to a positive teaching environment, drawing on research and practical strategies to create conditions where educators thrive. Participants will leave with actionable insights for fostering school cultures that not only prevent burnout but actively inspire teachers to remain in the classroom, ensuring stability and excellence for both educators and students.
