Values-Based Interviewing
This interactive workshop is designed for undergraduate and graduate students preparing for careers in education. As future teachers, participants will explore how values and character traits shape effective teaching, positive learning environments, and productive relationships with colleagues. The session is structured around three objectives: 1) Self-Reflection -- Identify and assess personal behavioral qualities to recognize strengths and areas for growth; 2) Understanding values and traits -- Use case studies and discussions to examine how qualities like critical thinking, empathy, problem-solving, personal responsibility, and growth mindset influence team dynamics and interviewing success; and 3) Interview Preparation -- Learn strategies to highlight behavioral qualities during interviews, positioning oneself as a strong candidate for teaching positions. By the end of the workshop, participants will understand how personal values and character traits affect their teaching and interpersonal interactions, and will be prepared to communicate these strengths confidently in professional settings.
