What They Don't Tell You about IEPs ... You Need to Know

Thursday 19 March 2026·2:00 pm

This session is for all teachers, general and adapted addressing what you need to know to be an effective IEP team member. Attending an IEP meeting is often overwhelming for participants and, at the same time, "just a meeting" for others. This presentation focuses on the objectives of an IEP meeting, understanding your responsibilities as a team member, and recommendations on how to be a contributing participant. I am sharing my 25+ years as an adapted physical education teacher and my personal experience as a parent. I am addressing what I learned as a parent and what I never was told as an APE teacher. The objective of this presentation is to bring awareness and to help teachers be the best IEP team member they can be for the student.
