Indigenizing Curriculum: The Animal Kinship Project

This presentation introduces the Animal Kinship Project (AKP), a multimedia educational resource designed to support the Indigenization of curriculum for Grades 4–6 and 7–12. Focusing on the profound connections between humans and animals, the AKP weaves together song lyrics, music videos, and comprehensive teaching plans to explore themes of interconnectedness. Through a braided approach that integrates both Indigenous and Western knowledge systems, the AKP offers an accessible and engaging entry point for students to reflect on Indigenous ways of knowing.
