Suicide Prevention: Supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ Youth
This session offers a compassionate and practical approach to support the mental health of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth. We’ll explore the unique challenges these youth face and how these experiences can contribute to increased risks of suicidal thoughts and mental health struggles. As educators, you’re often the first to notice when a student is struggling, and your response can make all the difference, recognizing that even small actions can be life-saving. In this interactive, conversation-based session, we will draw on lived experience to recognize when 2SLGBTQIA+ students may be thinking about suicide, and how to respond. We’ll discuss warning signs and strategies that can help classrooms feel safer, and more connected. This session isn’t about getting everything right, it’s about building your confidence to show up, to listen, and to create spaces where youth feel seen, supported, and valued. 10 Participants
