Awards Nominations is Now Open!

The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Professional Awards programme recognises outstanding contributions to the field of language education, celebrating educators, researchers, and leaders who have made significant impact on world language teaching and learning. The awards programme solicits nominations through ACTFL publications and member organisations each year, with the 2026 deadline set for May 29 at 5:00 p.m. ET. Award categories include the Leo Benardo Award for Innovation in K-12 Language Education (recognising contributions in districts serving underserved students), the Florence Steiner Award for Leadership in World Language Education at the K-12 level, the Wilga Rivers Award for postsecondary leadership, the Award for Excellence in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Classroom, and several other distinguished honours. ACTFL also administers the prestigious National Language Teacher of the Year programme, with Nathan Campbell named the 2026 recipient. For language educators, these awards represent the highest professional recognition in the field and provide an opportunity to celebrate colleagues whose innovative practice and dedication advance language learning for all students.
