Future Teacher Scholarship Application is Now Open!

The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) announces that the Future Teacher Scholarship Application is now open, with applications due by 29 May 2026. This merit-based scholarship programme supports undergraduate and — new for 2026 — graduate students who are dedicated to entering the language education profession, providing meaningful financial assistance during their teacher preparation journey. Undergraduate students are eligible for awards of $1,500 per academic year, with scholarships renewable up to three times for a cumulative total of $6,000 per recipient. Starting in 2026, graduate students pursuing certification in language education are also eligible, broadening the programme's reach to career changers and those advancing their qualifications. This expansion recognises the critical need to attract talented individuals into world language teaching at every stage of their professional development. ACTFL is the national association for language educators in the United States, representing teachers of all languages at all levels of instruction. The Future Teacher Scholarship reflects ACTFL's commitment to addressing the persistent shortage of qualified world language teachers by investing directly in the next generation of language educators.
