Train-the-Trainer: Improve the Behavior of Attention-Seeking, Manipulative, and Challenging Students, Grades 1-12

The Bureau of Education & Research (BER) delivers this intensive two-day Train-the-Trainer workshop equipping educators with evidence-based strategies for improving the behavior of attention-seeking, manipulative, and challenging students in grades 1-12. This program goes beyond standard behavior management workshops by preparing participants not just to implement these strategies themselves, but to train their colleagues — multiplying the impact across an entire school or district. The workshop addresses a reality that every experienced teacher knows: a small number of students whose behavior patterns include constant attention-seeking, manipulative interactions with peers and adults, and persistent defiance can consume disproportionate amounts of instructional time and emotional energy, affecting the learning environment for everyone. BER's approach draws on current research in behavioral psychology, trauma-informed practice, and positive behavior intervention to provide strategies that are both compassionate and effective. Participants will learn specific techniques for de-escalating confrontational situations, building genuine relationships with challenging students, establishing consistent behavioral expectations, and creating classroom environments that reduce the triggers for attention-seeking behavior. The Train-the-Trainer format includes presentation materials, handouts, and facilitation guides that participants can immediately use to deliver professional development sessions at their own schools.
