The Bureau of Education & Research (BER) offers this three-day National Train-the-Trainer Institute focused on maximising the effectiveness of paraprofessionals who work with students with special needs in grades K–12. This intensive program equips participants — typically special education coordinators, lead teachers, or professional development specialists — with all the materials, strategies, and presentation skills needed to deliver high-quality training to paraprofessionals in their own schools and districts. The curriculum covers practical strategies for enhancing paraprofessional effectiveness in inclusive settings, collaboration techniques for effective communication with teachers and administrators, and classroom-proven instructional approaches that help paraprofessionals support students in developing organisational skills, strengthening academic abilities, and building independence. BER's train-the-trainer model is designed to build sustainable internal capacity, allowing districts to provide ongoing professional development to their paraprofessional workforce without relying on external consultants for every training session.
