Flamboyan Foundation Professional Development

The Flamboyan Foundation is a national nonprofit dedicated to ensuring students most impacted by inequity are prepared to succeed in school and beyond, with family engagement at the centre of its theory of change. Their professional development helps educators and school leaders build what Flamboyan calls REAL Family Engagement—a model where families and educators work together as equal partners to support children's learning. Flamboyan's PD goes deeper than typical family engagement training by asking educators to examine their own assumptions about students and families, exploring how systems of inequity impact their students, and developing concrete practices for building trusting relationships with families. Based in Washington, DC, Flamboyan has worked with schools and districts across the country through their Family Engagement Partnership model—a multi-year partnership that helps schools build a sustained culture of authentic family engagement rather than one-off events or surface-level outreach.
