KID smART's S.T.E.A.M.Y. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math—with the Y standing for Youth) Summer Camp is an inaugural arts-integrated learning experience for young people aged 5–12 in New Orleans. Rooted in the vibrant culture of the city, the camp blends hands-on artistic exploration with critical thinking and discovery-based learning across STEAM disciplines. The camp runs across two unique week-long sessions at KID smART's Center for Arts & Education. The first week invites campers to explore the connections between STEAM subjects and New Orleans' rich cultural heritage through daily play-based activities. The second week focuses on strengthening reading, writing, communication, and creative expression skills through a variety of hands-on arts experiences. With small, age-based cohorts limited to just 15 campers, participants receive individualised attention and meaningful mentorship throughout their time at camp. KID smART is a New Orleans-based nonprofit dedicated to transforming education through the arts. By integrating arts into academic instruction, KID smART works to ensure that every child—regardless of background—has access to creative, engaging learning experiences that build critical thinking, collaboration, and self-expression. The S.T.E.A.M.Y. Camp extends this mission into the summer months, providing a joyful, culturally grounded learning environment that keeps young minds active and inspired during the school break.
