NESA Professional Development

The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) provides professional development resources and accredited learning opportunities for teachers across New South Wales, Australia, fulfilling its role as the statutory authority responsible for teacher accreditation, curriculum standards, and educational quality assurance. NESA's professional development offerings are directly connected to the accreditation requirements that all NSW teachers must maintain, making them an essential resource for educators navigating the state's professional standards framework. NESA's professional learning resources include online courses through NESA Learning, with particular focus on supporting teachers through the NSW Curriculum Reform and the implementation of new syllabuses. All NSW teachers with active accreditation at Proficient, Highly Accomplished, or Lead Teacher level must complete 100 hours of professional development in each maintenance period, and NESA has recently streamlined this process by removing the distinction between Accredited and Elective PD categories — giving teachers greater flexibility to include a wider range of professional learning activities and compliance training within their maintenance requirements.
