NAP-CC Field Trial

Presented by NSW Dept of Education (MyPL)

Sunday, November 1, 2026Β·9:00 AM

The National Assessment Program – Civics and Citizenship (NAP-CC) Field Trial is a preparatory assessment administered to selected schools as part of Australia's national assessment cycle. NAP-CC is a world-class online assessment designed by education experts to evaluate students' knowledge of Australia's system of governance, democratic processes, and their rights and responsibilities as citizens. The field trial involves selected schools with Year 6 and Year 10 students testing assessment items ahead of the main NAP-CC assessment cycle. Running from October to November 2026, this trial phase helps ensure the quality and reliability of assessment items before they are used in the full national sample. NAP-CC has been undertaken by a sample of Australian students every three years since 2004, with the civics component assessing knowledge of the judicial and political systems, and the citizenship component evaluating understanding of rights, responsibilities, and civic participation. Administered through the National Assessment Program (NAP) and overseen by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA), NAP-CC provides valuable national data on student achievement in civics and citizenship education across Australian schools.
