Pernille Ripp Professional Development

Presented by Pernille Ripp

Pernille Ripp is a current 7th-grade English teacher, literacy coach, award-winning author, and the founder of the Global Read Aloud—a free global literacy initiative that since 2010 has connected millions of students across more than 85 countries through shared reading experiences built on a simple, powerful idea: one book to connect the world. Her professional development work draws directly from her daily classroom practice, offering schools, districts, and organisations practical, sustainable approaches to building reading and writing identity, student agency, classroom culture, and global collaboration. Ripp is the author of four professional books including 'Passionate Readers: The Art of Reaching and Engaging Every Child' and 'Reimagining Literacy Through Global Collaboration,' and her work has been recognised with the 2022 WCTE Award for Diversity and Inclusion and the 2015 ISTE Award for Innovation in Global Collaboration. Whether through keynotes, workshops, or ongoing literacy coaching, Ripp's professional development is grounded in the belief that every child deserves a teacher who fosters genuine love of reading through trust, choice, and authentic engagement—not compliance-driven programmes.
