WA Public Secondary Schools' Choral and Solo Vocal Festival

The WA Public Secondary Schools' Choral and Solo Vocal Festival is an annual celebration of student vocal talent organised by the Western Australian Department of Education's Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS). This non-competitive festival provides a supportive, performance-focused platform for secondary school students across Western Australia's public education system to showcase their choral and solo vocal abilities. School choirs perform under the direction of their IMSS teacher or classroom music teacher, with categories including Novice for beginner or inexperienced choirs, Open for any choirs including compulsory and non-compulsory groups, and Show for choirs presenting show-style performances featuring harmonies. The Solo Vocal Festival component is open to Years 8, 9 and 10 students studying singing voice with an IMSS teacher, with each participant receiving a detailed performance report rather than competitive gradings. Entry is free for all public secondary schools, and there is no charge for audience admission, making this an accessible and inclusive celebration of music education across Western Australia's public school system.
