Kristyn Hunt Cathey, APR, was hired as the first Chief of Communications & PR for Alief ISD in July 2023. Before accepting this role as department leader, she served as the Director of Communications for Goose Creek CISD for two years. Her foray into school public relations began in her hometown of Port Arthur ISD, where she served as the first Media Communications Specialist for 11 years. She was installed as the first Black President of the TSPRA in February 2025. This is a three-year term as President-Elect, President, and Immediate Past President. She earned her Accreditation in Public Relations in 2022, putting her in an elite group of PR professionals. She was honored to serve in the inaugural classes of the Southeast Texas 40 Under 40 and the National School Public Relations Association 35 Under 35, both in 2014. She is a proud wife, mother of one, daughter, and friend. Elizabeth Lamport serves as Vice President of Marketing at School Family Media, where she leads the marketing teams across the organizationâs business units: PTO Today, EduKit, School Tool Box, and TeacherLists.
