Evan Gutierrez is the founder of Common Good Education, which leverages innovative technology to help districts and schools design curricula that reflect students and the unique character of their communities. He brings extensive experience leading curricula, assessment, and instruction across high-performing school systems, nonprofit organizations, and edtech companies. Evan has overseen content teams across math, ELA, social studies, science, and social-emotional learning, and has led design partnerships with leading curriculum providers. His work includes leadership roles at organizations such as Gradient Learning and Newsela, as well as collaborations with partners like Illustrative Mathematics, EL Education, C3 Teachers, Odell Education, National Geographic, and Stanfordās SCALE. He is the author of A New Canon: Designing Culturally Sustaining Curriculum (Harvard, 2021), which offers a framework for creating rigorous, standards-aligned curricula that better represent marginalized communities. Evan is a frequent speaker and writer on advancing equity through culturally sustaining, asset-based instructional practices.
