2026 FREE Webinar: Supporting ITE students and ECTs: Curriculum change in practice

The English Teachers' Association of NSW (ETA NSW) offers this free webinar on 15 June 2026 to support head teachers of English, initial teacher education (ITE) academics, and early career teachers navigating the significant curriculum changes in the 2024 Stage 6 English Syllabus. With NSW schools in the midst of implementing reformed English curriculum across Studies, Standard, Advanced, Extension 1 and Extension 2, this event addresses the practical challenges of translating syllabus documents into effective classroom teaching and learning. The webinar features experienced head teachers of English and ETA NSW staff including Jacob Anstey (Education Manager) and Kate Murphy (Publications Manager), who will share their interpretations of and responses to the new Stage 6 English syllabus. The programme includes a session on finding subject English within the syllabus documents, a forum on supporting initial and early career teachers to interpret the Stage 6 English syllabus, and a panel discussion on responding to Stage 6 English curriculum change in schools. The event also provides specific input from educators working in Initial Teacher Education, ensuring that the professional learning bridges the gap between university preparation and classroom implementation. ETA NSW, with approximately 2,000 members across the Sydney metropolitan area and 20 country branches throughout NSW, has been actively engaged in advocacy and professional support around the Stage 6 curriculum reform, and this webinar complements their broader suite of resources and professional development around the new syllabus.
