Drama teaching for the English classroom

This collaborative webinar series between the English Teachers Association of NSW (ETA NSW) and Drama New South Wales brings together two professional associations to explore the powerful intersection of drama pedagogy and English teaching. Spread across two Tuesday afternoon sessions, the series offers English teachers practical techniques, processes, and philosophies for incorporating drama into their English classrooms — not as an add-on or novelty, but as a genuine pedagogical approach that can deepen student engagement with texts, build confidence in oral communication, and create authentic learning experiences. The collaboration between ETA NSW and Drama NSW ensures that the content is informed by expertise in both disciplines: participants will learn from experienced Drama/English teachers who understand the curriculum demands of English while bringing specialist knowledge of dramatic techniques. For NSW English teachers, this is particularly relevant given the emphasis on multimodal texts, performance, and creative response in the NSW English syllabus.
