Read2Learn - Information Session

Think Forward Educators hosts this information session introducing Read2Learn (r2L), a set of free, volunteer-developed curriculum materials for teaching reading comprehension within a knowledge-rich curriculum framework. Scheduled for 29 April 2026, the session is led by project leaders Melanie Hart and Samantha Charlton, alongside experienced teachers from participating schools, who will provide a guided walkthrough of selected units and practical guidance for implementation. Read2Learn represents a remarkable grassroots effort: authored by over fifty teachers and leaders across Australia working in their own time, the materials reflect a deep commitment to evidence-informed literacy instruction that builds students' knowledge and comprehension simultaneously. The curriculum moves beyond generic comprehension strategies to engage students with rich, substantive content through varied lesson formats that keep learners actively grappling with new ideas. Think Forward Educators, which has grown from twenty to over thirty thousand members since its 2019 launch, promotes the science of learning—principles applicable to almost all students in almost all classrooms. This session is ideal for educators seeking high-quality, free literacy resources grounded in the evidence base on how students learn to read with understanding.
