Increasing Student Engagement in Popular Music Ensembles

This session will present research-informed strategies to strengthen student motivation in popular music classes. We’ll look at how choice, collaboration, and informal music-making can increase engagement. Participants will walk away with an understanding of how student motivation and techniques they can apply to their own classrooms.
