11-19 Keynote: Inclusive science in practice: Strategies, stories and the changing curriculum

Friday 9 January 2026·1:35 pm

What does inclusive science teaching look like in real classrooms, and how can we build a system where every learner sees themselves in the subject? This keynote gives a practical overview of approaches that help disabled and neurodivergent students thrive in science, drawing on case studies, lived experience and examples of effective adaptation. We will consider the needs of higher attaining neurodivergent learners, highlight some of the less common aspects of SEND, and explore what the Curriculum Review means for schools planning for change. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies, renewed confidence and a clear sense of why inclusion is central to excellent science education.
