CLEAPSS: Adaptive teaching techniques that support children to answer questions and write conclusions’.
CLEAPSS has been working with a group of schools for the past 4 years on ways to improve pupil outcomes from practical activities. During this session participants will examine and discuss examples of teacher planning and pupil outcomes from enquiries where the intended learning was not demonstrated; considering what was missing from the planning and what this tells us about the kinds of professional learning primary teachers need to help their children do this. Participants will undertake a practical enquiry and be supported to write a conclusion using a variety of adaptive teaching and learning strategies. The session will include time for reflection and discussion about these strategies and for participants to share approaches they’ve found to be effective.
