Is your science club climate conscious?
Building climate awareness through extra curricular activities. Come and join us for a thought provoking hands on session where we exploring the values around creating climate conscious extra curricular experiences for the young people you work with. We will share quick ideas to put in place in your own setting immediately as well as a reflective discussion session about the challenges this brings to the science education community. You will get lots of resources, ideas and activities to take away that are not available elsewhere -we aim to: * Support delegates to reflect on what it means to be climate conscious in the context of extra curricular activity * reflect on current practice for climate conscious learning * share our expertise, knowledge and our values for a climate conscious science club * engage in practical activities that reflect these values We have been creating digital resources for 3 years to support educators to run science clubs in their own settings. These are age and thematically organised. Our Earth Science packs are proving increasingly popular in a world where children and adults have a growing need to address big issues with how the earth and its climate is changing. We have a particular passion about taking a sustainable approach to all our science club packs but we know that there needs to be more support for addressing some of the bigger issues for the know the support for the educator leading the club sessions. Whilst we already have a full pack for upper primary called 'Earth's Climate', we know there is more to be done that simply creating packs. This has led us to our drive to share our value driven climate conscious approach to science clubs and have written an article around which we hope will be published in an upcoming issue of Primary Science. We've also created a careers in the climate sector A-Z and have many more ideas in the pipeline to develop this further.
