Sparking Science: Raising the profile of primary science in a busy school

In many schools, science is valued, but time is tight, and priorities are many. This practical and collaborative session is designed for classroom teachers and science leads looking for ways to make science more visible, engaging, and integrated, even in the busiest of school environments. This session is informed by first-hand experience of leading science in a busy primary setting, where competing priorities can make it challenging to give science the focus it deserves. Through classroom practice, collaboration with colleagues, and delivering professional development, I’ve seen how small changes can create big impact. Science doesn’t need to be squeezed out – with the right tools and mindset, it can thrive alongside other priorities. This session reflects a commitment to supporting teachers who want to make science a vibrant and valued part of school life.
