Beyond Words: Integrating SIOP and Mathematical Practices to Engage Every Learner
Part of ATOMIC Conference March 2026
Monday 23 March 2026·4:40 pm
Many multilingual learners struggle in math classrooms not because of content, but because of language barriers. This interactive session introduces small, practical strategies that integrate the SIOP (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol) model with the Standards for Mathematical Practice (SMPs). Participants will explore ready-to-use materials and examples from real secondary classrooms that promote reasoning, collaboration, and equitable access to rigorous mathematics for all students.
