Using Universal Design for Learning to Enhance Building Thinking Classrooms

The Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Guidelines offer a lens for examining opportunities to improve mathematics teaching. We share a UDL-Mathematics Education Framework developed by mapping research and best practices from mathematics education onto the UDL Guidelines. UDL can help us balance competing priorities and enhance the Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC) approach with additional equity considerations. This session will engage participants in exploring the framework to examine high-leverage practices that connect to multiple UDL guidelines and minimize barriers to learning.
