Part of CATCA 2026
Thursday 19 February 2026·8:00 pm

Discover how teaching money at any grade level can strengthen students’ mathematical understanding and real-life skills. In this interactive workshop, participants will explore a hands-on, 10-step approach to teaching money concepts that build number sense from kindergarten through Grade 12. Using practical strategies and examples, you’ll see how lessons with coins, bills, and real-world scenarios can support key math concepts such as place value, operations, decimals, fractions, number lines, interest, and tax. Learn how to guide younger students in counting and skip counting with coins, and how to help older students connect financial literacy with core mathematical ideas for high school success. Participants will leave with a clear instructional sequence, adaptable classroom activities, and strategies to make money lessons meaningful, engaging, and relevant for all learners.
